Javier Pereda es Ingeniero Civil Electricista, Magíster y Doctor en Ciencias de la Ingeniería de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Durante sus estudios de Magíster desarrolló un control directo de torque (DTC) “sensorless” para motores de inducción utilizando conversores multinivel y ultra-capacitores, además realizó un curso el 2008 en ABB University, Suiza. Luego continuó con el Doctorado donde desarrolló nuevas topologías y controles para conversores multinivel utilizando control predictivo, condensadores flotantes, nuevas asimetrías de voltaje optimizadas y control vectorial en máquinas de inducción y síncronas de imanes permanentes. Además, implementó un vehículo eléctrico impulsado por baterías de litio-ion utilizando la tecnología desarrollada en su tesis de doctorado mediante controladores industriales de última tecnología. Durante sus estudios ha obtenido numerosas becas de estudio, becas de viajes para exponer en conferencias internacionales, reconocimientos por su ayuda en la docencia y ha participado en proyectos Fondecyt e iniciativas con empresas privadas. Javier Pereda es miembro del Instituto de Ingenieros Eléctricos y Electrónicos (IEEE) y del Núcleo de Electrónica Industrial y Mecatrónica Milenio (NEIM) desde el 2009. Tiene publicaciones en las revistas más prestigiosas del área, además de importantes conferencias y dos premios internacionales (Prince Albert II Of Monaco Medal) por la mejor publicación en conferencias. El año 2013 fue distinguido con el premio Excelencia en Tesis Doctoral por la Pontificia Universidad Católica.
